Quilter's Anonymous - February Meeting

Members had a wonderful and productive time at our first Quilter's Anonymous meeting!
Everyone brought individual projects ...
... and progress was accomplished by all!
Some pulled out projects ...
... that had been set aside for some time.
While others worked on their first project!
Everyone was excited about the opportunity to spread out and work ...
... on long-term projects guilt free!
After 1:00 pm we held our first "accountability" meeting.  We each listed six projects we would like to make progress on over the next month, shared them with the group, than drew a number that determined what we would focus on until our next meeting!
It was such an enjoyable afternoon!  Valerie sewed binding onto two quilt tops!
Terry shared with us her new Quiltworx project ... she amazes us all!  Lila served as head cheerleader as we all cheered her on!  Our guild members make the best cheerleaders!
Sally laid out her Buggybarn Stars for us all to see ... very inspiring!
It also happened to be President Valerie's birthday!  Diane made and decorated a beautiful and delicious carrot cake!  So much to celebrate ... we're all thrilled that our chapter of Quilter's Anonymous is back!

Next Saturday is our February Time to Sew event ... big announcements will be posted in a few days!  You won't want to miss the fun ... stay tuned!

Quilter's Anonymous Begins Sunday!

It is SEW exciting ... guild members have decided to reactivate our local chapter of Quilter's Anonymous!
Quilter's Anonymous is where we encourage one another in our quilting pursuits.  Every month we'll list 6 projects that we wish to make progress on ... we then roll the dice ... which will determine the goal we'll be working towards!
Yes!  QA celebrates and encourages our addiction to quilting, fabric, notions, and sewing!
Yes!  QA supports gambling by using dice to determine what we'll work on!  Plus, how much a QA member accomplishes is always a gamble!
And yes!  QA leads to risk-taking activities!  Goal setting is always risky business!

Here are the details!

  • The Home Ec room will be open beginning at 11:00 am.  QA participants are welcome to come any time after that to quilt.
  • The actual QA meeting will begin at 1:00 pm.  All present are expected to participate in the meeting.
  • The Home Ec room will remain available until 5:00 pm.
  • Bring quarters (25 cent coins) as anyone who says something deprecating about themselves or another quilter will be fined!
Come join the fun!  See you Sunday!

2015 Time to Sew "Kick Off"

Wow!  What a day!  The first "Time to Sew" event for 2015 was inspiring in every possible way!  We'll begin this post with our new members!
New to Cordova ... new guild member ... but not new to quilting!  It was great to meet Sally and see her Buggy Barn star quilt!  Welcome Sally!
Long time Cordovan ... new guild member!  It was sew fun to spend the day with her! Welcome dear friend, Torie!
Somewhat new Cordovan, spanking new quilter, it was only her third or fourth time using a sewing machine!
She made great progress on her first quilt, Popsicle Sticks!  Welcome to quilting and the guild Denna!
Marianne charmed us all day by wearing her super cute apron!  A walking ray of sunshine!
She shared the first block of the Fat Quarter Shop's "Snapshot Quilt Along" with us!  The January block is called, Let Them Eat Cake!  Some of us are tempted to join in ... Marianne's block was so inspiring!
Marianne also worked on and finished her Granny Square quilt!  Beautiful!
Angela was busy working on her Lucky Star blocks.
She is making great progress ... it will be stunning!
Terry was busy ... working on her Jillily wall quilt!
Beautiful results Terry!
Darlene is starting the 2015 quilting year with purpose!  She spent the day working on her first applique' project which she intends to donate to our annual Tea and Auction!  Learning a new skill and using it as an act of service!
Darlene also shared with us her design plan for this Alaska themed wall quilt ... it is going to be beautiful!
Sam finished piecing together her Quiltworx's table runner!  It is a show stopper!
New long arm quilter Diane did a gorgeous job on Sam's quilt!  What a great team ... what a great quilt!
Diane spent the day working on her Jillily "Overture" quilt!
With stunning results!
Debra had fun using her new sewing machine...
... and made great progress on her "Popsicle Sticks" quilt!
Susie shared her recent finish!  It was a show stopper ... gorgeous!
Cece also spent the day working on her Jillily wall quilt ...
... with wonderful results!
Valerie is making amazing progress on her Farmer's Wife quilt!  Her goal is to make a block every day ... and she has accomplished more than that so far!  Next month we are going to force her to lay out all the blocks!  Sew inspiring!
She also applied the binding on this adorable Valentine's quilt!
Barb is amazing ... on sew many levels!  Look see!

Yes!  She recently pieced together all five of these quilts with blocks that she hand embroidered!
What talent!
What an accomplishment!
Plus ... this is the scrap quilt that she is currently working on!  Barb is off the charts wonderful ... she organizes our monthly Time to Sew events and has volunteered to continue doing that in 2015!  She is not only a super quilter, but she is also a super guild member!  Thanks so much Barb!

Happy 2015!  Happy Quilting!
Oh ... and meet our youngest guild member ... Lucy!
