Celebrating 2013!

A few members spent the entire day …
… sewing …
… and getting a lot done!
A Glacier Star in progress!
A unique twist on the traditional braid pattern.
Amazing color selection … we are all looking forward to seeing it finished!
Taking the technique that we learned this fall … and adding curves!  Wonderful!
And yes … pigs do fly!
President Sara organized our first ever "Secret Santa" quilt event!  It was so fun to see what members did with the fabric the recipients had contributed!  Here is the table topper Valerie did for Sara!
Sam made this beautiful table runner for Barb!
Barb had fun working with "wild" Christmas fabrics for Terry!  Lots of giggles!
Darlene made three beautiful toppers for Amber!
Terri made this "Humming Bird" wall quilt for Darlene.
Amber took the "Snowmen" themed fabric and created this amazing blanket for Terri!
Sara made these gorgeous baskets for Sam!
Valerie is traveling, so we'll reveal her gift from Terry in January!  Here members are with the gift they received from their Secret Santa!  Such fun and what a wonderful way to end a very successful year of quilting!

Abundance!

Our November "Time to Sew" event was yesterday!  In the spirit of Thanksgiving … an abundance of work was accomplished!
Sam finished most of her blocks for the Christmas Sampler quilt she is working on!
Valerie recently finished piecing her Valdez Quilt Festival 2012 mystery quilt!  Great results!
Valerie's Christmas Tree wall quilt just returned from one of our local long-arm quilters!
Time to apply the binding …
That done … next she'll be adding the lights!   It will be beautiful!
Barb organized and hosted the event for us!
She began the day by machine quilting this holiday wall quilt.
And she completed the binding … it is beautiful!
She also pieced and fused a second wall quilt before the day came to a close!  Even with only four members participating in the day, there was an over abundance of inspiration!

Happy Thanksgiving!

2013 Annual Tea & Auction - Part 2

The tables were set … the auction items were on display … time for the guests to arrive!

Our student helper did a terrific job helping serve tea and displaying the auction items while the bidding took place!  We are so grateful for her assistance!
These two women were children when we began our scholarship efforts … and now they bring their own daughters to our fundraising event!
Mother is a long time member, now her daughter is an active member who has become a vital part of our success as a guild!  The legacy of our guild continues in such a positive way!
A huge thanks to member Wendy, owner of the lodge where we host this event!  She was such a help to those who were working in the back making sure there was plenty of hot water and tea available!  She wrote down the items she planned to bid on and posted them on door frame in the kitchen!  What a hoot!
Terry and Barb did a fantastic job of keeping track of every auction item before, during and after the event!  It is a huge task!  We so appreciate their willingness to share their organizational skills!  Thanks ladies!
Auctioneer Jerry, the only man in the building, knows how to drive up those bids!  Here he had to stand between two bidders who were sitting next to one another!  Such fun!
Jerry has served as our auctioneer for many years!  It is so generous of him to volunteer to our effort!  Thanks for sharing your talent with us, Jerry!
Member Kim took on the job of Annual Tea & Auction Chairperson, and we are so grateful!  This event is so important and allows us to fulfill our financial obligations!  Thank you Kim for a job very well done!  Hats off to you!

A heartfelt thanks to our guests.  Thank you to all who came and showed their support for the many ways in which we serve our community!

2013 Annual Tea & Auction! Part 1

Cordova Northwind Quilters' Guild enjoyed another successful Tea &Auction!  This event is our only fundraiser of the year and allows us to sponsor two, four year scholarships annually.  Because this event is so large, it will be covered in two blog posts!
Once again, the tables were beautifully decorated by members for our guests!

The auction items made by members were amazing!

Our members are so generous with their time and talents!  A huge thanks to all that members did to make this event successful!
