Inspiration in May!

Lots of fun took place on Saturday, along with tons of inspiration!
Valerie shared her Trading Patches that was recently quilted!
She has also made great progress on this applique' quilt top!
She has also had fun with the "Block Heads" project!  She is doing the 6 inch blocks ...
... and the 3 inch blocks!  We were all impressed!
Barb was busy piecing blocks for a new quilt!
Sam was sewing gifts!
Marianne made multiple bags!
She also paper pieced a patriotic star!
Angela finished piecing this Winnie the Pooh baby quilt!
Kay and Kathleen dropped by to share a Quilt of Valor they recently finished!
Jackie brought some show and tell!  She pieced this adorable Dr. Seuss quilt and embellished it with machine embroidery!
For this sweet quilt, she took nine patch blocks that she had pieced years ago, turned them into a disappearing nine patch!
In the alternating blocks, she machine embroidered Precious Moments Alphabet motifs!  Sew very cute!
Along with three friends, she participated in this row by row mystery!  Each person made their own version!
Jackie added machine embroidery embellishments to this quilt as well!  Gorgeous results!
She also brought in an antique quilt top.  It is all hand done!
The work of those who came before us is always the most inspiring!  It is comforting to know that our quilts will out live us!

May Time to Sew Event!

It is a crazy time of the year!  Let's go sew!  Details are in the right margin!
Kathleen and Kay are committee chairs for our Service Project this year.  They have chosen to organize a Quilts of Valor project for us to participate in.  Here are the details:

  • Members are asked to make a 12" finished (12.5" unfinished) star themed block.
  • Blocks should be made with patriotic colors of red, white, and blue from your stash.
  • Blocks are to be turned in to Kathleen or Kay by July 4th.
  • They will bring star themed patterns to the May and June Time to Sew events to share for those who need them.
  • After the blocks have been collected, Kathleen and Kay will piece them into a quilt top ready for machine quilting.
How fun!  What a worthy cause!  Dig through those scraps and join in this important project!  It is such an honor to touch the life of a veteran!

A big thanks to Kathleen and Kay for organizing this opportunity for our members!

See you Saturday!

QA Inspiration!

Members arrive at QA every month with a mission!  And those goals really do produce amazing results!
Marcela arrived with a set of charm squares and neutrals!
Before long, squares were receiving sashing!
Rows were sewn together!
And before she left, the top was done!  The results are gorgeous!
Barb continued working on her hand applique' project, Grandma's Kitchen!  It is amazing how many blocks she has finished!  She is well past the halfway mark!
Valerie pulled out a UFO and discovered she was farther along than she thought!  Quilters love when that happens!
Stunning results!  All that is left is piecing the blocks to the center panel and outer borders!  This UFO is nearly done!
Sam was extremely busy!  She cut 3 trillion neutral squares for a pieced background.  And that is not an exaggeration!
Angela arrived with the cutest fabric destined to be a baby quilt for a friend!
Before long her blocks were pieced!  Sew very cute!
And her layout decisions made!  Another adorable quilt made by Angela!
Shannon was also busy at work on a baby quilt!
Her paper pieced elephants are just adorable!  It takes a lot of pieces to make something this cute!
Susie dropped by with her king-sized Gingham stars!  Wow!  It is amazing and inspiring!
Marianne also came by to inspire us with her completed Aslan wall quilt!  Another paper pieced treasure that will decorate her son's bedroom!  Beautiful!
Torie was busy turning blocks into rows!
At the half way point, a bit of happy dancing did take place! We were all nearly as excited as she was!
Piecing of the second half in progress!
Done!  What an accomplishment!  What a treasure!  It is stunning!

It is always amazing how much members accomplish in a Sunday afternoon!  QA will be taking a break over the summer, and return again on September 10th!  Happy Summer everyone!  Keep quilting!
