Time to Sew in May!

The sun was shining, but there were dedicated quilters with tasks they wanted to accomplish.  Everyone experienced success on Saturday!
Sam was putting on borders!  Such a striking jelly roll quilt!
Sally could see the finish line ...
... on her "I spy" hexagon quilt!  It is amazing!
And now that the piecing is done, we're dying for her to count the number of hexagons and triangles she used!  Such an accomplishment!  We are especially impressed that she finished it while her children are still young enough to use and enjoy it! ;-)
Diane brought in a quilt that was pieced by a former member who now lives out of town!  Diane had done the long-arm quilting!  We all fell in love with the quilt ...
... and went head over heels when we saw Diane apply the binding!  Wonderful quilt in every way!
Marianne brought in a spool quilt she recently pieced using Pat Sloan's fabric!  So bright and cheerful!
Every month we marvel at all she gets done!  Another recent top ... terrific fabric choices!
Look at these super cute kitty cats ...
... they are in this cheerful quilt top especially designed to show off fun fabrics!
Marianne's Norwegian Woods quilt has been quilted and bound!
We all decided that we like the back almost as well as the front!  Wonderful!
These sweet little houses are Marianne's new scrap project!
Speaking of scraps ... she used leftovers from a king sized quilt ...
... to make these two pillow tops!  Beautiful!
Valerie's Overture Jillily quilt is stunning!  She spent her day piecing the final border!
Sue shared this beautiful quilt ... made entirely from fabrics in her stash!  Sew inspiring!
Angela was able to stop in between her daughters T-Ball games!  She shared a finished top that she began piecing at our spring retreat!
She has already begun a second quilt from the same book.  Gorgeous!
Terry's star shines brightly in this quilt!  All that is left is the hand stitching on the binding!
Look at her go!  All the units on this Quiltworx project are done!  Wowser!
Terry spent Saturday piecing rows of her Blue Ridge Beauty ... and has the top half finished!

The time we spend together every month is sew inspiring and productive ... filled with friendship and fun!

QA Recap
Quilter's Anonymous met May 17th!  We were a small group, but had a lot to share!
Joan is visiting for the month of May and has begun another Jillily project!
She was busy creating miles of 3/8 inch bias strips!
Shannon also began a new project with a brand-spanking new Fig Tree fat quarter pack!  We all look forward to watching her progress!
Sally was busy using the big counter to cut out night gowns for her daughter!  Such fun!
Sue has returned for the summer and she began a new hexagon project!  It was wonderful to watch it grow!
Denna only has a few blocks left to piece on her second quilt!  Her progress is amazing!
Terry recently returned from a trip.  Wow!  She accomplished a lot of handwork while gone!
Hand applique' with embroidery embellishments!  Wonderful!
Terry also finished two blocks on a Holiday Redwork quilt!  Her accomplishments were so inspiring!

Scholarship Recipients

We are always impressed by the accomplishments of the young people in our community!  As a guild it is an honor to award two scholarships each year!
Dariah Songer received the Outstanding Senior in Home Economics Award of $500 the first year and $250 for three consecutive years while attending school full-time.
Chandelle Erbey received the Alice Reilly Memorial Scholarship for the same amount.

Both of these women reflect everything that is great about our quilting community!  It is an honor to assist them as they build their future!

Congratulations Dariah and Chandelle!

Important Guild Updates!

Quilter's Anonymous!

We will NOT be meeting May 10th as it is Mother's Day!  We WILL be meeting May 17th instead!

Calendar Committee Request

Shannon and Kim have already begun working on the Guild Calendar.  They are asking members to consider submitting a quilt to be photographed for this fundraising project.  If you are interested in having one of your quilts in the calendar, please contact Shannon at sevans@ctcak.net or Kim at cranbery@gci.net.

Friendship Quilt for Jill Finley!

We all had such fun making this hand appliquéd quilt for Jill!  Many hands working together ... made light work ... and the result was wonderful!  Thanks to the many members who assisted and to Diane U. for serving as the chairperson!

A Rip-Roaring Success!

In February, members who wanted to participate in the Rip-Roaring Exchange submitted their "spring" themed fabric!  Each quilter took home the fabric of another and secretly created something special with it!
Darlene made two beautiful sewing accessories for Shannon, as well as a pillowcase!  Such fun!
Shannon made Terri a zipper bag and knitting needle case!
Terri made Susie a sewing machine cover!
Susie made Darlene a handbag!
Diane made Denna a lap quilt!
Marianne made Diane a beautiful table runner!
Sally made Marianne a sewing mat and fabric box!
Denna made Sally an organizer and zippered bag!
What a wonderful and fun event!  It was amazing to see what everyone had done with another's fabric!  Completely unpredictable and wonderful in every way possible!  Each item a treasure!  We all owe a huge thanks to Darlene for organizing this very successful event!  Thanks a million Darlene!
