Camp Quiltathon Saturday Recap!

Saturday morning began with more quilt inspiration!  We began with "Show and Tell" … wow!

Camp Director Valerie shared with us a great "Warm Up" activity.
We all made Twisty Bags!  A project that was quick, fun, and useful!  The Twisty Bags really dressed up our tables and helped us keep all of our stray threads off the floor!  Instructions can be found here.
Mid afternoon we held a Sewing Olympic Team event!  Each table was given supplies to complete  five nine patch blocks.  Blue team won!
Members made great progress on their projects!

Our two youngest members joined us for some fun!  The three-year-old has already participated in our tradition of having Chee-toes while we quilt!  Too cute!
We recruit our members at a very young age!  So sweet!
Our potluck dinner focused on camp themed food!  Baked beans, potato salad, s'mores bars and more.  The main dish was Pigs in a Blanket Quilted Pigs!
Our pigs nearly didn't get quilted … the cooks got a crazy case of the giggles!  Too fun!
Competition in the Great Bobbin Race became fierce as the day went on!

Friendly competition and friends cheering on made for a fun and very productive day!  Lights were put out at 11:00 pm and we all left looking forward to another day filled with fun and encouragement!

Camp Quiltathon Friday Recap

OMGosh … we had a great time at Camp Quiltathon!  Before the fun could begin ...
… the camp directors took on the task of transforming the Home Ec room into Camp Quiltathon!  Each camp table cabin was assigned a color.  A Northwind quilt block centerpiece was how campers identified their cabin!
Members received a name tag during registration that designated their cabin assignment!
The Camp Mess Hall is an important place for conversation and nourishment!
The AccuQuilt station … stood ready to assist campers.
Baskets of door prizes …
… and this sewing machine cover … waiting to be won by campers!
Everything was ready!  Camp Quiltathon Directors waiting patiently for campers to arrive!  Everyone received their table assignments and quickly set up!
Green Table
Yellow Table filled with Sunshine!
Pink Table
Lavendar Table
Blue Table
Once set up, we had a wonderful "Show and Tell".

Next ... it was time for a traditional camp activity … Warm Ups!
Our first warm up activity was "Cord Keepers"!  It was a fun way for all of us to start those engines sewing machines and make a quick project.  The project instructions can be found here.

Camp Quiltathon was planned to be a "loose ends" event … a time for everyone to work on a project of their choice!

A lot of progress was made on projects of every kind!
Every camp must include a few friendly competitions … The Great Bobbin Race recorded how many bobbins each camper emptied!  You got to wear the "A-Bobbin-Nation" necklace after you finished a bobbin!  Too fun!
Friday ended with all that campers love … team building, show and tell, a group project, competitions, door prizes and an abundance of silliness!  Fun for all!
