Tea & Auction 2012 - Part I

Beginning about 10:00 am this morning...members arrived to decorate tables ...
We are so grateful for those members who decorate a table!  Our guests have fun looking at the different themes.  It really adds to this important fundraising event!

After the tables are decorated, it is time to display the auction items.
Every year we are impressed by the talent and time our members willingly share!  We appreciate the scholarship funds your projects generate!  Thank you!

Every year our guild members combine efforts and create a large, bed-sized quilt to be auctioned off at this event.  This year Diane U. headed up the committee responsible for this beautiful queen sized quilt.  Members donated fabric from their respective stash!  Then constructed it!  Diane W. did the long-arm quilting!  It turned out beautiful!  Thank you Ladies!

Well, it is impossible to have tea without food ...
We served gallons of tea and no one went home hungry!  The food was delicious!  Thanks to those who brought goodies to share!

This has already become a very long post.  Part II will be posted in the next couple of days!  Stay tuned!

A Day of Fun!

November's "Time to Sew" was filled with productivity and fun!  We began the day by making favors for those members who will be contributing auction items!
Members contributed their fabric...
... their time...
... their talent...
... and created...
... seventy-two individual, handmade pincushions!  Many hands made light work ... we were finished by noon!
Dawn spent the afternoon working on a beautiful strip-pieced quilt.
Barb was busy putting the finishing touches on...
... two table toppers!
Valerie was busy hand appliqueing a snowman wall hanging!
Sara was especially busy... she finished this tote bag she had begun a couple years ago!  That always feels so good!
She worked on layering her "Curves" top!
And she began a new project!  The pattern uses a jelly roll ... here she is opening her very first one!  Too fun!
President Sam was making a beautiful holiday themed pillow!
The lovely Mother Daughter team of Cece and Laura were busy making a beautiful scrap quilt!
Terry was busy putting binding on a Thimbleberries quilt that she recently finished quilting!
She also began working on a quilt that involved learning a new technique!
Darlene was quilting this beautiful art quilt!  It was originally a drawing by a special needs student in our community.  Darlene enlarged the art and is making it into a wall quilt for the girl who designed it!  It will be stunning!
Sheryl was busy working on another Bonnie Hunter quilt!
She had hundreds of two inch squares cut and organized!  She is using all batiks!
And the 4 patch construction began!  Sheryl made great progress and had many made by the end of the day!
One of our youngest members was busy playing with her dolls under the classroom's long-arm quilting machine!  Yes ... we start them young!

It was a fun and inspiring day that included our fall quarterly business meeting and a potluck dinner!

We are all excited about our annual auction next weekend!  It will be Sunday, November 11th at the Orca Adventure Lodge and will begin at 2:00 pm!

November Time to Sew!

The Annual Tea and Auction is only a week away!  Valerie has planned a "Time to Sew" for this Saturday, November 3rd!  This gives us all a chance to finish up (or begin) our auction items! ;-)

Here are the details:
  • November 3, 2012, beginning at 9:00 am in the Home Ec room.
  • 6:00 pm is a Potluck Dinner
  • 7:00 pm is our quarterly business meeting
Several of us will be working on the gifts given to members who donate auction items!  We are asking that members donate 5 inch squares of bright and fun fabrics!  We will need about 60 total, so bring as many as you can!  Thanks!

Hope to see you there!

Important Retreat Information!

If you are taking the Machine Quilting Class at retreat this weekend it is important to have the simple table runner pieced in advance!  The directions for the table runner were given to you when you signed up!  There is still room in the class!  We're so excited to offer this opportunity to our members!  See you Saturday!

Patchwork Party Progress!

The October Patchwork Party took place today!
Barb was busy!  She cut out three Thimbleberries projects!
Terry made great progress and completed this project!  She prepared the backing and it is ready to be quilted!
Lila was working on a Christmas project that included tiny bits that will result in Bear Paw blocks!
Sara wowed us with her finish!  This was a pattern in the book that featured continuous line embroidery or quilting designs.
We all fell in love with Sara's version of this pattern.  She was busy finishing up the binding!

We had a great time catching up with one another...sipping hot cider...and making progress on our projects!  What a terrific way to spend a Sunday afternoon!  It is hard to believe that we've been meeting for 10 months and only have two meetings left!

October Thimbleberries Party!

Old Man Winter made his appearance a bit early this year.  But that won't stop the Thimbleberries Patchwork Crew from enjoying their monthly party!
Bring one of your Thimbleberries Kits and enjoy an afternoon of sewing, show & tell, and patchwork fun!  The fun begins at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 21st in the Home Ec room!
