Covert Operation Revealed!

Mission accomplished!  Secret Agents Kay and Lila completed their covert operation successfully on Saturday!
Newlywed and QBee Linee' was confused when her new husband Jason insisted she come to "Open Sew" specifically at 2:00 pm!
Many of us made blocks for a commemorative quilt to honor their new life together.  What a beautiful new family!
Kay and Lila were the agents in charge ... here is a picture of the block Lila made.  Love the camo fabric ... very Cordovan!  Kay and Lila did a terrific job ... thank you Kay and Lila!  We all wish Jason, Linee' and Russ and lifetime of happiness!
Val shared with us the Judy Neimeyer tablerunner and placemats she recently finished.  They are a wedding gift for her niece.  Stunning!
Lila had completed this tablemat that we pieced last summer.  It is made with a charm pack and turned out great!
Sam had recently finished this lap quilt from a kit she had purchased in Oregon while visiting her family.  It is lovely and made us all want to curl up and take a nap with it!
Lila had finished up the mystery quilt we did as a guild last spring.  It was like having a ray of spring enter the room when she unfolded it!
These are six inch crazy quilt blocks that Dawn is making.  What fun!  Bonnie Hunter will be so impressed when she sees this one!
I had to take a picture of Dawn with all her scraps ... heaven!
Terry was busy working on a Winnie the Pooh baby quilt ... lucky baby!
Julie spent the day beginning a new quilt, Terry Atkinson's Fire Escape!  She used the Accuquilter to cut out most of it!
Valerie and I were busy making matching tablerunners.  It is from G.E. Designs and is called Madison Square Runner.  It is a quilt as you go ... great to piece and quilt at the same time!
Sam was busy making her sister a pair of flannel pajamas.  The snowman fabric was perfect ... Sam became distraught when she realized that on the back pieces the snowmen were upside down!  We assured her that if the fabric design is upside down in the back ... it makes person's bottom appear smaller!  At first she didn't buy it ... soooo ...
... we had to prove it with photos!  See for yourself!  When the snowmen stand on their heads ... the backside appears smaller! ;-)  Once again we had a great time together!  Thank you Dawn for organizing this event for us!

A Weekend Filled with Inspiration!

Gosh ... what a wonderful way to spend the weekend!  Surrounded by inspiring quilts and fabulous women ... life can't get much better than that!

First a look at some of the projects ...

The quilts are inspiring ... but the women make it fun ...

Dawn finished this quilt ... she has been working on it for quite some time ... here she is with a lint remover giving it a go over.  This is a king sized quilt ... 624 squares ... talk about perseverance ... congratulations Dawn!  We all enjoyed being your cheerleaders ... way to hang in there!
Diane has been busy ... as usual ... the sea turtle quilt is for her first grandchild ... due to arrive in August!
Kathleen is busy working on her Minnesota Hotdish ... it is totally scrappy ... talk about inspiration!
Cece was busy working on a BOM that she receives every month from Heavenly Patchwork.  It is a Sherri Falls design from This and That patterns ... stunning!
Valerie was busy working on a Quiltworx project by Judy Niemeyer.
Sam worked on a handbag ... don't you just love those fabrics?  Yummy!
Jan spent the weekend working on multiple quilts ... she was on a roll ... machine quilting three separate tops!
Secret Agents Kay and Lila were busy working on their 007 project ... it is still a secret, so I am unable to say any more!
Sara and our youngest member, Princess Amelia, stopped by for a visit.  The Princess is still too young for Mom to come and spend the entire day.  Amelia is wearing a sweater that Valerie (on the right) made for her ... too sweet!

A big thank you to those who contributed to the potluck!  We never starve at these events! ;-)

We also held a brief meeting and discussed upcoming events.  Dates for Spring Retreat will be announced soon!  Excitement for Bonnie Hunters visit continues to grow!  OMGosh, are we excited or what?

I'm afraid that I was often busy sewing and missed getting pictures of everyone and their quilts ... sorry ... will take two pictures of you next time!  ;-)

Welcome 2011!

We're celebrating the new year with an Open Sew ... this weekend!  The fun begins Friday (January 21st) at 5:00 pm in the Home Ec room!  It will resume again on Saturday (January 22nd), at 10:00 am.  We will be holding a potluck dinner at 6:00 pm on Saturday with a general membership meeting following at 7:00 pm.

Our membership year begins this month, so it is once again time to pay your yearly dues.  2011 will be an exciting year for our guild ... Spring Retreat is just around the corner ... and in only 6 months, Bonnie Hunter will be sharing her talents with us!

Secret Agents Kay and Lila will be working on our guild's covert operation.  This weekend will be a great time for you to assist them in their efforts.  Talk to them if you would like further information that is less cryptic ... ;-)!

We always have a ton of fun!  You won't want to miss it!  See you there!
