Spring Retreat featuring Peggy Gelbrich

We are so excited about our retreat next weekend, April 9-11th.  We've invited Peggy Gelbrich to come and teach a couple of classes.

Friday evening and all day Saturday she will be teaching us new piecing techniques using a quilt pattern called Montana Cartwheel.

It is such a beautiful pattern...a bit intimidating...but we're all anxious to see how Peggy simplifies it for us.  It will be exciting to see how the quilt looks in multiple colorways.  I will be sure to take a lot of pictures as we create these blocks.  This class begins Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and resumes on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
On Saturday night we have arranged for a catered dinner featuring Chicken Fettucini for $12.00.  Not having to cook and/or contribute to a potluck really does help us feel like we're on vacation and allows us to completely focus on our quilting.  At 7:30 p.m. we will be having a special membership meeting to discuss purchasing an Accuquilt for guild members to use.  After the meeting we are all welcome to sew into the wee hours of the morning.  Hmmm...I wonder if there will be any "all nighters" this year? ;-)

On Sunday, the Hunter's Star class will begin at 10:00 a.m.

This class promises to show us an easy way to create these 8 pointed stars set into half squares.  Again, it is always so fun to see how everyone's fabric choices effects the design.  Peggy's teaching comes very highly recommended by a former guild member who now lives in Ketchikan, so we are thrilled to have her share her talents with us.

If you would like further information or are interested in signing up for one or both classes please contact Diane Wiese at 424-7755.  For those who want to attend retreat, but not take either of the classes you are welcome to join those who are attending a Loose Ends session that will be available the entire weekend.

Spring Retreat is always our biggest event for the membership each year.  We all look forward to it and invite you to join the fun!
