It is ... Time to Sew!

Most of us can't believe that September has come to a close ... which reminds us that our annual fundraiser is coming up quick!  We have two announcements concerning the Tea & Auction, they are:
  • Time to Sew Event!  We have secured the Masonic Temple, free of charge, for Friday, October 7 from 5-10 pm.  On Saturday, October 8 we begin at 10am and end at 10 pm!  This is a great opportunity to begin working on those auction items!
  • At our annual business meeting earlier this year, we decided to make a quilt to be auctioned at the Tea.  Valerie C. is chairperson of that committee.  At the October Time to Sew event she will be collecting 2 inch strips of dark and light batiks.  If you would like to contribute to the quilt please bring 4 dark and 4 light batik (total of 8) strips.  Contact Valerie if you have further questions!
With "termination dust" present on our local mountain tops...fall is nearly over...and it is time to prepare for the Tea & Auction!  Hope to see you next weekend ... it certainly is ... Time to Sew! ;-)

Holy Moley Hot Bologna!

Bonnie made this simple little guild blog a link today on her post ... holy moley hot bologna ... we had over 2200 visits here today!  Be sure to check out the other posts she wrote about her visit here!

We want to publicly thank all those on the event committee for everything they did to make this a successful weekend!  A big thanks to committee members Lila, Julie, Diane W., Diane U., Valerie, and Sara!  They all worked hard to make Bonnie's visit successful!  Thanks a million Ladies!  Also, a big thanks to Angela and the Native Village of Eyak for allowing us to use their facility free of charge!  Their generosity and sense of community is remarkable!

Thanks to everyone who participated in one or more of the three events ... you all helped to fill the weekend with fun and inspiration!

Star Struck with Bonnie Hunter!

Sunday's sky was clear as we began our second day of quilting with Bonnie!
This was the view from where class was held ... gorgeous weather for Bonnie's last day in our remote corner of the planet.
We began class with enthusiasm that matched Bonnie's!  It is obvious that she loves to teach and pass along her talent!
This is a close up picture of Bonnie's Cathedral Stars quilt that we worked on!  We all got to work ... giggled ... ate ... and sewed ... we are a very industrious group of women!

Bonnie shared many techniques and tips that improved the accuracy of our piecing!
She knows how to have fun and has a terrific sense of humor!
She breaks the process down into simple steps which prevents the quilt from becoming overwhelming!  By mid afternoon everyone had made great progress!

We are all so pleased with our "Quiltville" event!  Bonnie is such an amazing talent, but more importantly she is a "down to earth" person who loves to share her passion!
Spending the weekend with a "Quilt Rock Star" like Bonnie was a first for our guild!  It was a thrill to have her here ... and definitely worth the two year wait!  She left us all empowered and inspired!  A wonderful weekend filled with quilting memories was had by all!

Blue Ridge Beauty Fun!

It was raining ... a hard rain ... yes, we were soaked!  But nothing could dampen our spirits as we began hauling our sewing machines and supplies into the Masonic Temple ... after all, we were about to spend the day quilting with Bonnie Hunter!  And the weather?  Who cares ... it is perfect for quilting!
While we were setting up ... Bonnie was busy signing books!

Look at how neat and tidy everything was ... we were all excited and ready to begin!
Bonnie got us all started ...

Bonnie shared many helpful hints and techniques!

Everyone began making a lot of progress!  Here are some results...

It was so exciting to see how everyone's blocks came together!  Bonnie guided us through the process with her relaxed style and wonderful sense of humor!  What a terrific way to spend a very wet and rainy day!  It's great to be a member of the Cordova Northwind Quilters Guild!
