We can make a difference!

Quilter Meghan Newirth, born and raised Cordovan, now works at Hospice of Anchorage following her recent college graduation.  We're all so proud of her and her many accomplishments.  I spoke to her today on the phone ... about the camp Hospice of Anchorage holds every fall for children who have experienced the death of someone close to them.

Camp Erin services children between the ages of  6 and 17 and is offered free to everyone who wishes to participate.  Meghan said that at this time there are 60 children signed up for the 3 day camp held September 24-26th.  They like to give every camper a teddy bear and lap quilt that is theirs to keep when camp is over.  At this time they only have about 20 quilts donated, and most of them are more appropriate for girls.  So ... their need is great ... she is asking that perhaps some of our members might consider making one ... I very willingly offered to spread the word ... hence this post .... here are the details:
  • Lap quilt needs to be at least 60" square, finished
  • Mailed or delivered to Hospice of Anchorage, 2612 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage, AK 99507
  • Need for both male and female themed quilts, asap
We have our monthly Time to Sew scheduled for next weekend, July 30-31.  I now plan to use that time to work on a lap quilt for this purpose.  I know that many of you will join me in this effort ... together we can make a difference!
