We can make a difference!
Quilter Meghan Newirth, born and raised Cordovan, now works at Hospice of Anchorage following her recent college graduation. We're all so proud of her and her many accomplishments. I spoke to her today on the phone ... about the camp Hospice of Anchorage holds every fall for children who have experienced the death of someone close to them.
Camp Erin services children between the ages of 6 and 17 and is offered free to everyone who wishes to participate. Meghan said that at this time there are 60 children signed up for the 3 day camp held September 24-26th. They like to give every camper a teddy bear and lap quilt that is theirs to keep when camp is over. At this time they only have about 20 quilts donated, and most of them are more appropriate for girls. So ... their need is great ... she is asking that perhaps some of our members might consider making one ... I very willingly offered to spread the word ... hence this post .... here are the details:
- Lap quilt needs to be at least 60" square, finished
- Mailed or delivered to Hospice of Anchorage, 2612 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage, AK 99507
- Need for both male and female themed quilts, asap

Popsicle Fun!
The pouring rain ... the cool temperatures (high of 50 degrees) ... didn't stop the summer fun of this group of guild members! They arrived ready to party! Most came with precuts, but three brought their stash and used the Accuquilter.
Cece had just picked up her Montana Cartwheel quilt from the long arm quilter and brought it for show and tell. It was so inspirational for us to see hers nearly finished! The piecing is beautiful ... the colors are stunning ... and Sheryl's quilting embellishes it perfectly! As you might recall ... this was a class taught by Peggy Gelbrich during our spring retreat. Thanks Cece for sharing it with us!
Kelsey brought in a jelly roll project that she designed and began this winter. It was made using two jelly rolls and a preprinted panel. It is so inspiring to watch the next generation of quilter's grow and create.
We even had two members participate from a distance ... they were at a cabin, on an island, here in the sound ... here are their popsicles ...
Julie's with a Bali Pop
Terry's with a Jelly Roll
We visited ... snacked ... admired each other's fabrics ... sewed ... rotary cut ... giggled ... a few even got as far as getting their units pieced and auditioned them ...
Barb with a Jelly Roll
Susie's with a Bali Pop
If you were unable to make the party and would like the pattern, two are still available for sale. Contact Terri at 5581 to purchase.
A huge thanks to Roseann of Rosebud's Cottage! Without her quick thinking and proactive efforts this party would not have been possible! We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon because of her!
