Fun with Baskets & Piecing ... and Sherri Falls!

Sherri Falls kept half of the participants busy creating Crafty Baskets in the morning and moving on to patchwork piecing in the afternoon!
Saturday
Many guild members have been fans of Sherri's designs for years!
Our excitment to learn and sew with her personally ...

... was obvious!

Everyone was also excited with their baskets ... it was fun to watch them take shape.
Before long, everyone moved on to their patchwork projects.  Sherri shared many tips and techniques that ensure success with her designs!
Look at this photo ... I spy two happy campers!

Before long ... the second project of the day was underway!
Jackie went home that evening and kept sewing!  Sunday morning she shared two finishes with Sherri!  What fun!

Sunday
On Sunday the fun started all over again!
Before long, a new crop of baskets began to take shape!

Members fell in love with their baskets early in the process ... wearing them with pride!

The morning passed quickly ...
... and soon we began working on our patchwork projects!

It was amazing that Sherri allowed us to work on any project of our choice!

Even though some chose the same pattern, they were all a bit different!
More happy campers!
We were thrilled to spend a day sewing with Sherri!  She was so generous with her knowledge and techniques!  The skills she shared with us will not only be useful when making her designs, but will be a powerful influence in all of our future projects!

Fun with Wool ... and Roseann Kermes!

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary by having two "Quilt Rock Stars" visit and teach!  So we divided our participants into two groups!  Such a pleasure to have received instruction from them in a small sized group.  They were able to give each member individual assistance ... what a luxury!

Saturday
Roseann Kermes introduced herself and introduced our members to the world of wool applique'!  We immediately began our journey with a small "warm-up" project.
Members got right to work ...
... with giggles ...
... smiles ...
... and fun conversation!
In the afternoon ...
... we went to work ...
... on our holiday themed mats!
New stitches ...
... and new skills were learned and used!

Sunday
Roseann began Sunday with the same projects ...
... but new faces!
Loads of fun ...

... learning ...

... instruction ...

... and fun!
Most members were unfamiliar with wool applique'.  It was great to learn new skills from a master like Roseann!  The opportunity to learn from her individually was such a privilege!  And she made it fun!

30th Anniversary Quilt Show!

We were thrilled to celebrate our 30th Anniversary by including a quilt show!
Shannon had the courage to take on this task!  She assembled a committee and made it happen for all of Cordova to enjoy!  We are so grateful for her leadership!
Having a facility like the Cordova Center allows us the opportunity to display our quilts in a way that made them accessible to the entire community!
City staff worked with our members to include every quilt that was submitted.
Because this was our third quilt show in thirty years it was a bit crowded ...
... but an abundance of quilts is a good great thing!
It was fun to relive our past quilt experiences by viewing the quilts in public.
We had too many quilts for the gallery ...
... so over spill filled the railing in the Atrium!
This ended up being a great way to display large quilts.
Thanks again to Shannon, her committee, and the City of Cordova for making our 3rd Quilt Show possible!  It was a success in every way!  It was such a thrill to see the work of our members honored!
