Wonderful Day of Inspiration!

Wow!  There truly was loads of inspiration today at our April Time to Sew event!
Terry B. pulled out her Montana Cartwheel for the first time since the class by Peggy Gelbrich that we held at our annual retreat in 2010.  You can read about the class here and here.  Peggy was an exceptional teacher, as Terry had no problems picking up where she left off two years ago!
She also added a bit of creative piecing to the process!  Too fun!
Here is the Mystery quilt that many of us participated in at the Valdez Quilt Festival ... also in 2010.  Terry has her top done!
Lila made great progress on her Flying Geese quilt by Judy Niemeyer of Quiltworx.  It is going to be such a stunning quilt!
We all went a little crazy when President Sam pulled out this Bob the Builder fabric!  She is making a quilt of it for a very lucky baby boy!  Some how I missed getting a picture of her other project...sorry Sam...I will catch it next time.
Valerie shared a recent table topper finish!  It is beautiful!
She also shared her Mystery from the festival in Valdez!
She was also busy working on her black and white version of Bonnie Hunter's Blue Ridge Beauty!
Barb has been busy!  She has really been finishing up those "PIP"s ( projects in progress)!  This is a Hunter's Star that she began at the Valdez Quilt Festival in 2008!
This quilt was from a class Barb took at the 2010 Valdez Quilt Festival!  Beautiful!
Barb's version of the Mystery quilt!  Love it!
This quilt is made with a jelly roll from a Terry Atkinson pattern called Popcicle Sticks!  It is for Barb's granddaughter.  Sew fun!
This quilt came from a kit that Barb picked up during her travels!
Another fabulous finish!
And here is her Blue Ridge Beauty!  Beautiful finish!
If you counted seven finishes for Barb...you are correct!  Wow!  We are all so happy for her ... impressed ... and completely inspired to pull out some of our PIPs!  Way to go Barb!

Thanks Valerie for making the arrangements ... what a wonderful day!

Spring Retreat 2012!

The intention is to ignore all this snow!  We will not allow Mother Nature to get in the way of our annual spring ritual!
It is time for the 2012 Spring Retreat!  Once again we will be dedicating an entire weekend to spending time together sewing!

Here are the basics:
April 20, 21 and 22nd beginning at 6:00 pm Friday night
Potluck Dinner, Saturday evening at 6:00 pm
Quarterly Business Meeting, Saturday evening at 7:00 pm

Now for the fun!  Diane will be hosting a Mystery Class on Friday and Saturday of retreat!  A supply list is available at Forget-Me-Not Fabrics!  It is a mystery designed by Debbie Caffery!  Some of us remember Debbie when she taught us the Pineapple quilt many years ago ... on a side note, Debbie is returning to Alaska this fall for the Valdez Quilt Festival!  Her mystery's are always fun and popular ... and Diane has been a great "secret agent" and is not revealing any of this mystery's secrets!  If you have further questions about the mystery class call Diane at 253.7755!

The mystery class will be meeting in the Home Ec room, while those who wish to work on "Loose Ends" will be meeting in the Library.

Just a reminder...in order to participate in the retreat and business meeting you must be a current member!  Becoming a member or renewing is easier than ever now!  It takes less than two minutes!  In the right hand column under 2012 Membership Form click the word "Form"!  Easy!

Make plans to join the fun!  Mother Nature can go ahead and do whatever she wants ... we are celebrating spring the NWQG way!  We're quilting!

Another Quiltville Finish!

Look at this lovely!
Diane U. has finished piecing her "Midnight" Blue Ridge Beauty!
Great job Diane!  It is stunning!  And inspires the rest of us to continue progress on ours!

March Thimbleberries Party!

Many club members were out of town enjoying spring break, but that didn't stop us from making progress and having a good time!
Everyone enjoyed seeing the kits that were received in the last shipment!  And ... of course ... we wished we had ordered them all!  Such beautiful fabric!
Sara has made great progress on her table topper ... it is ready to be quilted!
Sara has also begun work on the embroidery blocks ... she already has half of them done!  Amelia is such a hoot!  When you ask her to smile for the camera ... she opens her mouth into the perfect "choir singing" shape!  Too cute!
Terry was busy adding the flowers to her table topper!
Cece was happy with the progress she made!  We were impressed too!
Lila hasn't received a kit yet, but that didn't prevent her from getting things done!
It was so fun to get together!  Sewing ... visiting ... and snacking on Grasshopper Cupcakes!

Time to Sew Fun!

Several feet of fresh snow didn't stop some of our members from coming to the March Time to Sew event last Saturday.  It was a good thing they brought their shovels as they were required to shovel their own path into the building!
Barb was busy working on this Santa quilt...easy to think Christmas with all this snow as inspiration!
As always, Barb is very industrious and finished the center of her...
...Thimbleberries, Love Me Tender wall quilt.
This beautiful top was pieced by Kelsey,
... Diane's daughter.  Diane U. appears to be working on one of her Bonnie Hunter quilts and making good progress!
Terry B. is also making great progress on her Minnesota Shop Hop 2011 Quilt.
Diane W. and Valerie seem to be enjoying themselves as well!  Everyone had fun spending the day together doing what we love...quilting!
