September's Time to Sew Event

After a busy summer, it felt good to gather together and quilt!  Everyone who participated accomplished a lot and had fun!

Kay hosted the event ... attending to all the details, ensuring that we were comfortable and had a great time!  Her efforts were appreciated ... we are grateful for a fun weekend of quilting!

Amber is infamous for accomplishing a lot ...
She created this super cute organizer ...
with multiple zipper pockets to keep any maker successful!
She finished piecing the Mystery that we did this past spring!
Another gorgeous top finished!
And ... this top was completed just as we were ready to clean up on Sunday!

Angela and Marcela are doing the same quilt design, but in different color ways!
Marcela sharing design details with us ...
... it will be "sew" fun to watch their quilts emerge!
Marcela's color way.
Angela's units added up over the weekend!

Jackie came with  this project barely started.
Before long she had finished it!  Such a thoughtful themed design and fabric.
This is a BOM Jackie is participating in!  Each block contains intensive embroidery and small scale patchwork!  We are all impressed and are excited to see it progress over time!
Next up ... Jackie began this quilt that will be gifted to a family member!
Here Jackie shared a pair of jeans that she embellished for one of her DILs ... lucky woman!  They are adorable!

Diane inspired us all by bringing a quilt she pieced and began hand quilting in 1989!
We cheered her on as she made great progress!  There is nothing like the magic of hand quilting to make an an already amazing quilt exceptional!

Kay planned to hand bind four quilts over the weekend!  This quilt fills the room with sunshine!  Beautiful!
Another great finish!
Kay loves participating in online BOM's ... this one involved using each block twice, reversing the colors on the second block!  Sew fun!
She is starting a new Block of the Week!  These are the fabrics she choose.  We all look forward to seeing it evolve over time!
This was a Block of the Week she participated in last year.  So very beautiful!

Thanks to all that came ... sewed ... and made great progress on their projects!  Thanks again to Kay for hosting and making it possible!

Quilt Show Updates!

We're thrilled about the opportunity to partner with the Cordova Museum and host a Quilt Show from October 3rd through November 1st of 2025!

Here are the Plans!

Guild Members Only
Quilts on display must have been made by current or past NWQG members.

Quilt Suggestions
We'd appreciate quilts that were part of guild events:
  • Guild hosted events, retreats, etc.
  • Mystery QuiltsS
  • Quilt Rock Star Events
  • Locally led classes and sew-a-longs
  • Charity quilts
  • Anything that highlights a members growth or tells a unique story
Optional Sale Items
Quilts may be priced for sale by the maker (30% commission will go to the Museum)

Raffle Quilt
We're exploring the idea of including a raffle quilt.  Proceeds could support our scholarship fund or a local charity. This could be a guild project or a donation from a private collection.  Ideas are welcome.

Annual Tea & Auction Tie-In
This could be a great advertising opportunity, membership drive, or a chance to feature special auction items as part of the exhibit or in lieu of a formal auction.

"Road Map" Exhibit Booklet
We plan to create a printed guide describ ing the quilts and their stories.  For this, we'll need an inventory of participation quilts well in advance.

How Members Can Help

We hope to see lots of quilts entered for display!  Click this link or the link found in the right margin for the quilt show submission form.

An Exciting Announcement!

Today we celebrate our Nation's Birthday!

Cordova Northwind Quilters' Guild members have another reason to celebrate! This is an important and fun announcement!
Our second quilt show - July 2016

Members may recall that we celebrated our Guild's 30th Birthday in 2016 with a quilt show in the new Cordova Community Center!

As we approach our 40th Birthday in 2026, members Torie, Kay, and Cece have been busy planning another quilt show for guild members!

We have accomplished so much as a guild over the past 40 years that we will start celebrations a few months early!  The quilt show will once again be held at the City Center from October 3 - 31st of 2025!

More details will be coming ... but for now all members are encouraged to participate!  Sew ... pull out those finished, nearly finished, half finished, barely started, and/or new quilt projects out of storage and get those quilts ready for our 3rd NWQG Quilt Show!

Enjoy the 4th of July Holiday!
Happy Quilting!

A Mystery and Quilting Fun!

March Hostess Cece with the sweetest finish!

March is nearly over, but our recent Time to Sew included a small group of quilters having colossal success with their quilting!

This layout quickly became ...
... this finished quilt top!  Look at all those perfect right triangles!  Angela is a pro!
She quickly moved on to her next project!  This one is a blue and neutral beauty!
Three members pulled from their fabric stash and participated in the Mystery Quilt!  Audrey dove into her beautiful fabric palette of blue prints!
She solved her Mystery with beautiful results!  The bonus was making a dent in her fabric collection!
Amber decided to take her Mystery to a new level by adding sashing between her flower blocks!  We are always impressed by her quilting sense of style and look forward to seeing it after the piecing is done!
Cece picked bright solids from her stash for her mystery quilt!
This beautiful block ...
... will become a beautiful mystery quilt!
Cece with a 2nd finish for Show & Share

A huge thanks to Cece for hosting and organizing March's Time to Sew event!  Also for organizing the Mystery Quilt option for our members!  She planned a terrific event to celebrate Nat'l Quilting Month!

The next Time to Sew event will be held on May 2-4!  We hope to see you there!
