Members of the Northwind Quilters' Guild are celebrating for three important reasons:
- Our recent Tea & Auction secured the funds necessary to support our scholarships!
- It felt so good to invite and welcome Cordova residents to a live auction, our first since 2019!
- We celebrated the life and quilting of long-time member Kim Erbey who lost her battle with cancer this past summer.
Auctioneer Jerry Bendzak, returned and managed the pace and entertainment of the auction! We are so appreciative of his willingness to donate his talent towards our efforts.
Silent Auction Items
Members donate smaller items for the Silent Auction. The bidding is done secretly before and a half hour into the live auction. Always fun to see multiple bidding wars quietly taking place!
Live Auction Items
Members had been busy making auction items . Quilts are not inexpensive to create, we know how generous these donations are! Many auction items were donated by Kim Erbey's daughters as well. Members were excited to bid on items made by Kim ensuring they would have a keepsake of her talents and creativity.
Tea & Auction Fun!
These three Junior High gentlemen did so much to ensure our auctions success by walking items around the tables during the bidding! We appreciate them!
In Memory of Kim Erbey!
Tea & Auction 2018, Kim is third in from the right.
Kim was an exceptional person in every way, as a mother, a wife, a business woman, and of course as a quilter. She lived by her faith and that included being generous with her heart and talents. We were fortunate to have her involved in our guild. Two of her three lovely daughters were recipients of our scholarship! We would laugh with her about how her auction items often raised more money than the scholarships her daughters received! Her daughters reflected that same generosity by donating several quilted items made by their mother to the auction this year. Such a loving gesture made in her memory, we are so grateful. As one daughter shared, "My mom loved this event. Everything she loved, tea, quilts and good company." We all miss Kim ... her positive energy and loving support in quilting and in friendship.
We all know that the success of any event is completely dependent on the fun generated by the people who participate! A huge thanks to all the members who organized the event, those who donated auction items, those who worked the event, those who decorated tables, and made finger foods to serve with the tea! And special thanks to all the guests who came and supported our scholarship efforts! Our guild is appreciative and invite all to join us at our member events!
