November Fun!
Time to Sew Event - November 19th
November has been a busy month for our guild! After our successful Tea & Auction, we immediately got busy on our next service project!
Sam is Chairperson for the Raffle Quilt Committee and several members spent the day creating the quilt top!
Everyone present pitched in ...
... working in our own projects ...
... while waiting for the next raffle quilt step.
It was a true team effort!
Marianne brought some recently finished quilts to Show and Share! This is made from men's suiting fabric for a friend!
A friend has adopted two girls, so Marianne immediately got busy ...
... making a quilt for each little girl!
Marianne has been busy working on her fabric stash by making this Leader and Ender quilt designed by Bonnie Hunter!
Success! We finished piecing the raffle quilt ... guild member Diane has offered to quilt it! The quilt will be donated to the Hospital Auxiliary and they will raffle it to generate funds for the Long Term Care program! Huge thanks to Sam for organizing this!
Quilter's Anonymous Event - November 27
Valerie brought in several Show and Share items! So inspiring! A Holiday tote to hang on her door.
A finished table topper!
And this gorgeous, king sized BOM! Stunning!
Barb spent the day working on a hand embroidery project.
Valerie was busy piecing a new project! A great way to celebrate her recent finishes!
Shannon was busy being a Christmas Elf ... the gifts she made were impressive!
The recipient of this adorable baby quilt will be arriving in the near future, Sam was busy getting it done!
Distance Member Update!
New quilter, Erica, traveled all the way from her home in Tacoma, WA to attend our 30th Anniversary Event with her aunt, Barb C. She had never made a full sized quilt, but with the assistance of Sherri Falls, she accepted the challenge!
And here is a picture of her finish! Wowser! We may be miles apart, but members here in Cordova are cheering her on! Beautiful work Erica!

Tea & Auction 2016
What fun! What success! Every year we commit ourselves to $2500 in post-secondary scholarships that we award to graduates of Cordova High School. Our annual Tea & Auction is how we secure those funds! We are so grateful to those who came, enjoyed the afternoon and showed their support by purchasing the many treasures our members make!
The Tables
Each year members volunteer to decorate and host a table. It is so fun to see how the tables are decorated!
The Cordova Center is a beautiful facility, adding tables ready for tea service really dressed it up for the occasion!
Tea & Treats
Members brought both sweet and savory treats to enjoy with tea. The variety is appreciated by all ... delicious food crafted in our kitchens really enhances the tea party experience!
Shortly before tea service, it became obvious that we had more people than tables! We quickly pulled out two additional tables and scrambled around to find dishes! The problem was quickly solved and there was room, treats, and tea for all!
Silent Auction
We average 60+ auction items each year, which makes for a very long live auction. This year we decided to place the smaller items into a silent auction!
We had everything from grocery bags, pincushions to potholders! It was wonderful, fun, and competitive!
Live Auction
Part of the fun about this event is seeing the work of our members! The diversity and variety of items donated is amazing! In a way it serves as a quilt show!
We are Grateful!
There are so many members who work hard every year to make this a successful event! Thank you to all who contribute auction items, decorate tables, set-up, prepare food, and work behind the scenes making this event enjoyable for those who attend! Special thanks to Chairperson Valerie and her committee of Susie, Barb, Shannon and Denna for administrating this event so smoothly and successfully!
A huge thank you to our extraordinary auctioneer Jerry Bendzak! His talent and comittment to our scholarship efforts is so valuable to us!
It is impossible to adequately thank those who attended for their support and participation! We are so fortunate to live in a community that reaches out and cares about our scholarship efforts!
