Another Successful Spring Retreat!

Diane W. planned, organized and taught the Mystery Quilt at Spring Retreat this year!  Yes, this woman is amazing!  And thanks to her, our members enjoyed a fantastic weekend!

The fun began Friday evening.  What a wonderful way to end a work week!
This was our sunset view as the fun began!   Look at the progress everyone made over the weekend.  Here are photos of guild members and their mystery quilt. The mystery is called "Around the Bend", and was designed by Debbie Caffrey.  Here is Audrey working on her mystery!

This was Jessica's second year at retreat!  Such fun!

Kay enjoyed doing her mystery with neutrals.  Beautiful!

Joan celebrated spring with her fabric choices!

Kathleen chose a tropical theme for her mystery.

As well as being guild president, Sam was also busy solving the mystery quilt!

Tammy chose a beautiful floral print.

Deyna was all smiles as she worked on her quilt.
Diane U. was working with a blue and neutral combination.

Cece used a beautiful purple and green combination.  We were impressed that she dressed to match her quilt! ;-)
While these members were busy solving their mystery quilts, a few other members were working on other projects.
Valerie demonstrated her ability to sew without using her hands!  Either that or she thought she was being arrested!
Here are the results of her efforts this weekend.  A beautiful version of Hunter's Star!
Terry worked on a kit that her husband had given her as a gift.
Lila was busy working on her Quiltworx Flying Geese quilt.

On Saturday evening we held our potluck dinner and ...
Guild President Sam ran the business meeting.
Our newest member, Baby Astrid joined in the fun!  She brought along her mommy, Amber and friend Ria.

We also enjoyed some great "Show & Tell" quilts.
Jessica brought in her top from her first retreat, 2011!
This is Sam's gorgeous quilt!  Diane did the machine quilting!  What a beautiful combination!
Amber shared the beautiful Noah's Ark quilt she is in the process of making for Baby Astrid.  The animals are paper pieced ... it is just too cute for words!
Thanks Diane for all you did to fill our retreat weekend with quilting fun!  We really do appreciate the many things you did to make the spring retreat enjoyable for everyone!

April Patchwork Party Fun!

The Cordova Northwind Quilters Guild knows how to party!
Cece is always up for some quilting fun!
Look at how much she accomplished!  She knows how to party!
Terry was focused on her machine applique'!
Barb made great progress on her "Love Me Tender" as well.
Sara wowed us with the progress she has made on her table topper!  It was inspiring to see one this far along!
Sara has also been working on the embroidery quilt.  Here are nine of the twelve blocks completed!
The Kritchen girls were busy cutting out their kit!
Sam ordered a kit that will be delivered later on, so she worked on a beautiful project in progress!
Valerie opened this kit, cut it out and pieced the entire thing during the party!  She knows how to have fun!
Of course we come for the patchwork, but we also know how to enjoy the food!  It was a very productive, fun and tasty afternoon!

Wonderful Day of Inspiration!

Wow!  There truly was loads of inspiration today at our April Time to Sew event!
Terry B. pulled out her Montana Cartwheel for the first time since the class by Peggy Gelbrich that we held at our annual retreat in 2010.  You can read about the class here and here.  Peggy was an exceptional teacher, as Terry had no problems picking up where she left off two years ago!
She also added a bit of creative piecing to the process!  Too fun!
Here is the Mystery quilt that many of us participated in at the Valdez Quilt Festival ... also in 2010.  Terry has her top done!
Lila made great progress on her Flying Geese quilt by Judy Niemeyer of Quiltworx.  It is going to be such a stunning quilt!
We all went a little crazy when President Sam pulled out this Bob the Builder fabric!  She is making a quilt of it for a very lucky baby boy!  Some how I missed getting a picture of her other project...sorry Sam...I will catch it next time.
Valerie shared a recent table topper finish!  It is beautiful!
She also shared her Mystery from the festival in Valdez!
She was also busy working on her black and white version of Bonnie Hunter's Blue Ridge Beauty!
Barb has been busy!  She has really been finishing up those "PIP"s ( projects in progress)!  This is a Hunter's Star that she began at the Valdez Quilt Festival in 2008!
This quilt was from a class Barb took at the 2010 Valdez Quilt Festival!  Beautiful!
Barb's version of the Mystery quilt!  Love it!
This quilt is made with a jelly roll from a Terry Atkinson pattern called Popcicle Sticks!  It is for Barb's granddaughter.  Sew fun!
This quilt came from a kit that Barb picked up during her travels!
Another fabulous finish!
And here is her Blue Ridge Beauty!  Beautiful finish!
If you counted seven finishes for Barb...you are correct!  Wow!  We are all so happy for her ... impressed ... and completely inspired to pull out some of our PIPs!  Way to go Barb!

Thanks Valerie for making the arrangements ... what a wonderful day!
