Name Tag Fun!

Last spring at our general membership meeting ...

... President Sara introduced a wonderful idea!  Guild name tags!  Many members have chosen to participate.  Sara has made it extra fun by adding a "Secret Sister" element to it.  Here are the details:

*  Each participant filled out a card with general information about themselves.
*  Cards were exchanged.
*  The identity of the member you received must be kept secret!
*  Name tags must be larger than 2"x3" and smaller than 4"x6".
*  Tags can be any shape.
*  Use any technique you want.
*  Tags may be pin backed or lanyard style.

Finished name tags will be distributed to their owners at the beginning of our Jillily retreat!

Fall Retreat - Jillily Studios

Exciting things are on the agenda for our annual Fall Retreat!

Jillily Studio is coming to Cordova!  Jill is a "Quilt Rock Star" in multiple ways ... she creates patterns, designs fabric, plans events and teaches quilters everywhere!  She was recently featured in American and Patchwork magazine!  You will not want to miss the fun, learning and inspiration that Jill Finley will be sharing with us!

The fun will begin on Friday, September 26th with a guild "Meet and Greet" Potluck in the Home Ec room at 6:00 pm!  Jill will present her trunk show at 7:00 ... the public is invited!

Earlier this spring, members voted for the patterns Jill will be using to teach us her piecing and quilting techniques.  We will begin with the Trellis on Saturday, September 27th at 9:30 am in the Home Ec room.

On Sunday at 12:30 we continue learning Jill's techniques with the Overture design from her book, Home Sweet Quilts.  What a fun packed weekend!

Immediate To Do List
1.  Register for the class using the link on the right side bar!  Don't delay as class size is limited to 20 participants
2.  Deliver payment by mail or bring to Valerie to reserve your spot!  Only $65 for members and $85 for non members includes two days of instruction!  Make checks to Cordova Northwind Quilters Guild.

Retreat Schedule
All weekend events will be held in the High School Home Economics room.

Friday, September 26th 
6:00 pm  -  Meet and Greet Potluck, members only
7:00 pm -  Jillily Studio's Trunk Show, open to the public

Saturday, September 27th
9:00 am  -  Room open and available.
9:30 am  -  Instruction begins using the Trellis pattern.
Lunch and dinner on your own
11:00 pm - Room access ends

Sunday, September 29th
9:00 am  -  Room open and available.
12:30 pm  -  Instruction begins using the Overture pattern.
4:00 pm  -  Clean up and door prizes (must be present to win)
